Dr. Strangeloop
“my mind’s a wreck so I’m making a cure MIX (for Xolair)”

<img src="http://xolair.podbean.com/mf/web/bctqbd/Dr_strang1.jpg"width="500" height="889" />

Dr. Strangeloop is here this month as autumn leaves are left after a thunderstorm.

Strangeloop is an inspiring L.A-based musician and VJ ( I would personally call him a live-cinema artist since his work is not just background imagery, as is the case with most VJ work) and is a part of Flying Lotus’ essential Brainfeeder imprint. In June they released the “Are We Lost Mammals of an Approaching Transcendental Epoch?” EP, a downright mystical work that reminds us of how dirty beats can be elegant, transcendental, and produced with a finer touch than what is typically found at your standard rave.
His work has supported the live sets of such artists as: Mala, Flying Lotus, Dorian Concept, Samiyam, Martyn , The Gaslamp Killer, Kode 9, Hudson Mohawk, Joker, Daedelus, Skream, 2562, N-Type, and many more… And if you went to the Coachella festival, you might have seen him vjing in the Coachella dome.
In January of 2010, his new EP “BALANCE” will be released through Brainfeeder / Alpha Pup. And In May, the awaited LP, “Easy Listening for our Future Children”, will hit the music stores.
For more information about his long trajectory, projects, videos, etc,. you can go to www.strangelooptv.com
And this month I took some herbs out of the lab and made an infused Hip-Hop Mix.

Enjoy the Music!!!!!
I really like having a female dj in my specials, and Miss Kat is the first one. I don’t know why, but it has been difficult to find good female djs out there, and I think there should be more, since they add special vibes and feelings to things because that’s something women do. For her booking contact, general information, etc., you can go to http://www.myspace.com/jazzsoulicious.
Soon, on September 28th, and finally after 4 years of their succesfull album “Based on a True Story,” Fat Freddy’s Drop has done it again with this absolutely stunning new work called “Dr. Boondigga and the Big BW” and it will be released properly in Vinyl around the world with some collaboration from her highness, Alice Russell,” and from MC Slave. This is a MUST HAVE album no matter what your taste for music might be. In this music special you are going to get a good peek of this new album.
And talking about ladies again, in this special you can also find new material from Julie Gordon in her solo project. I got the chance to see her live last Friday, and let me tell you guys that you have to keep an eye on her because this girl is really talented. You can find more info about her at http://www.myspace.com/julieegordon
And inspired in the the 70th anniversary of one of my favorite labels ever, “Blue Note”, I opened a little bit my jazz vault as an offering to the long life of jazz. Blue Note proves itself as very few labels that handle a special style of music can have that amount of candles to blow in this 2009 winter and still keep up with such great work. All these songs are really hard to find and it is almost impossible to get them in a digital format or cd,. The last time that I saw one of these vinyls for sale, it cost $700 USD, so fasten your seat belts and…..
Enjoy the music!!!!

Tracklisting:

Paulo:
• Angel – Julie Gordon (Test)
• Digital Fauna – Zomby
• Shiverman - Fat Freddy’s Drop
• Hi fly - Randy Weston
• Sombre guitar - Danser’s Inferno
• Malcolm, the call -Khaliq Al-Rouf
• Mas que nada - odell brown

Miss Kat:
• Anikana-O – Kongas
• Devils Gun - Cj & Company
• Movin’ - Brass Construction
• Disco Connection (Extended Version) - Isaac Hayes
• Let’s Dance - Black Soul
• Funk-N-Bop – Mutiny
• Cherry Tree – Cerrone
• Energy To Burn - Bt Express
• Hit ‘n’ Run Lover - Carol Jiani

He is a talented producer, musician and dj. This year he launched Amp-Art Recordings, a new UK based label dedicated to the releasing of high quality electronic music with jazz and soul. The first “must have” EP he released through this label is called Dislok8ted Science with 4 killer tracks and has been pretty well accepted by the critics in the UK and it’s almost out of stock.
MXM has also released tunes in labels like Hydrogen Dukebox, Combination Records, Snapshot, and more.
Surely there will be people talking a lot about him.

He is currently trying to get the next few Amp-Art Recordings releases out. Then, there is the stunning People of Earth EP from Nick Moore a.k.a Linkwood (Firecracker, Prime Numbers), with the follow up Category Blues EP by himself (MXM) with a tasty Claude Young remix.
He is also working on more solo material for a few other labels, Hypercolour and Snapshot.

MXM is making an album together with Linkwood for next year, and he will also be working with Elliott Dodge for his Snapshot Recordings Label.
For more info, you can go to: http://www.myspace.com/mxmspace

And I took a little trip to another galaxy this month.
Enjoy the music!!
For those who haven’t heard about him before, Ben Mono is a producer, musician, and Dj from Munich (Germany), (Compost Records). He makes a unique style called Bit-Hop, named by himself. He slows down the tempo and adds some abundance – Bit-Hop means less beats per minute but more density in sound. Bit-Hop also means the digital merging of different styles, a symbiosis of stripped down HipHop and booming Electro. Wherever he spins records he comes up with new variations in tempo and style while never forgetting about some sureshot bangers.
I’ve always thought about the special quality that Ben Mono has to make singers like Capitol A or Bajka, among others, enter other atmospheres while working with him and produce unique melodies and expressions, reinforcing Ben’s characteristic sound, which must be one of the hardest tasks for a producer.
For this special called “under the Dancefloor’”, I wanted to invite Ben and here he is, exclusively for you with 27 songs mixed in 30 minutes + exclusive remixes and songs.

In this special, along with “Grizzly,” we express what the city of San Francisco makes us feel in particular. You may find that every city in the world smells differently and vibrates in different ways. The area of San Francisco Bay is composed by Berkeley (where one of the most recognized music schools is located), Oakland, San Jose (Silicon Valley), Santa Cruz, 9 counties, and 101 more cities popular for their natural beauty, liberal politics, affluence, diversity and new age reputation. In San Francisco there is a cultural and ethical diversity, which, under my point of view, makes it an intelligent city. Every time I’ve been to San Francisco it has been loaded with vibrations and experiences, reason for which, in my latest visit to this great city, I felt I had to express all that I felt through a music special, treating it like a picture or one of those aromas that take us back to moments, memories, and specific happenings from our lives. Below is the list of songs that each one of us selected:
Enjoy the music!!
